Top Ten Nintendo Switch Accessories
The Nintendo Switch has been on the market for a few years now, and that means there is a metric ton of accessories out there. Some are great and some are not so great. Then some are so great, they are head and shoulders above the rest of the pack. Here are two accessories that fit that bill.
10. Apple Air Pods
Yes, I know these wireless earbuds are not specifically made for the Nintendo Switch. The fact remains that thanks to the Switch’s recent change to supporting blue tooth natively, and the fact that a lot of people already have Air Pods, they are a natural match. Granted, some wireless earbuds have technically better audio, but I still like the AirPods better than any of them.
9. Mario Kart Live
Mario Kart has become synonymous with Nintendo Systems and this mix of Augmented Reality and remote control car racing is one of the coolest innovations Nintendo has brought about during the era of the Switch. It was fun when it was first released with the Mario kart, but with the addition of Luigi, it became a must-buy for fun in-person multiplayer.
8. Amazon Basics Folding Stand
The one thing players can all agree with is that the kickstand on the Switch is less than stellar. But fortunately, there is an extremely affordable alternative. This folding stand is far more stable than the Switch’s kickstand, elevates the screen, making it easier to see, and folds in a very compact manner, making it extremely portable.
7. Ring Fit
There is no denying that the Nintendo Ring Fit when paired with its pack-in game, Ring Fit Adventure, is a fantastic workout. Since the release of the Wii, Nintendo has been all about getting players up off the couch and moving. With its super addictive gameplay, the ring fit is the perfect example of that ideal.
6. Car Charger
The Nintendo Switch’s bread and butter are being both an in-home console and a portable console all in one. So, of course, you’ll want to make sure your Switch doesn’t die while you’re on a road trip. This simple accessory keeps that from happening and should be included in everyone’s Switch travel bag.
5. iVoler Storage Carrying Case
Speaking of travel cases. The iVoler Storage Carrying Case is arguably the pound for pound, best case on the market for the Switch. It holds everything you could possibly need for your Switch on the road. Room for your Switch, the dock, pro controller, a second set of Joy-Cons, 18 games, and more. Having used many different cases over the years, in my humble opinion, the Ivoler is the ultimate Switch Case.
4. Hori Split Pad
In handheld mode, the stock Switch is not the most ergonomic system in the world. There are dozens of different ergonomic grips you can pick up, but why stop there? Especially when you can go with ergonomic joy-cons that feature an actual direction pad and very responsive buttons. Since purchasing mine, I have never gone back. You can also pick all sorts of themed Split Pads to give your Switch everything from a Pac-Man feel to a Pokemon theme.
3. Tempered Glass Screen Protector
The Nintendo Switch is not a perfect system. It has its flaws, and one of those is the screen. While it looks great, it is still prone to scratching. Especially when it’s constantly inserted and removed from the dock. The perfect fix to the problem is the Tempered Glass Screen Protector. It gives your Switch’s screen supreme protection and as an added bargain, it’s easier to clean too.
2. High-Speed Micro SD Card
Unlike other game systems, it’s unbelievably easy to expand the Switch’s storage. You just pop in the Micro SD card of your choice. I personally prefer high-speed cards. For just a few bucks more you get far better speeds. Pro Tip: Steer clear of the Nintendo-branded cards. You are paying a lot of extra money for the Nintendo-themed image printed on the outside of the card, which you’ll never see again after it is installed on the Switch. The exact same Sandisk cards without the Nintendo branding are just as good at far cheaper prices.
- Nintendo Switch Pro Controller
Is it any surprise that the Pro Controller takes the number one slot? It’s one of the single best controllers Nintendo has ever put on the market. Period. The Joy-Cons in their holder is a serviceable controller, but there is no substitute for the Pro Controller. One of the main reasons is the direction pad on the Pro Controller is an actual direction pad instead of 4 separate buttons. As anyone with experience playing platform games can attest, there is nothing better than a true direction pad. But it’s more than just the direction pad. ALL of the buttons are extremely responsive, the rechargeable battery holds a charge for a very long time, and it just plain feels good in the hand. Simply put, it’s worth every penny.
